It's been a rough few days, but Grandma is finally on the road to recovery! Grandma had a hip replacement on Wednesday at Portland Adventist, and I flew in to spend the first several nights with her in the hospital. Within the first 24 hours she became very anemic, and required several blood transfusions, but she perked up by the next day, and was up and walking around in order to stretch her leg. She is now doing very well, minus her lack of appetite as a result of the terrible food that she has been served...
Check out the meal above and try and guess what it is? Chicken nugget? Hush puppie?
They are "skallops". Not scallops, as in fish, but skallops, as in a non-fish and non-meat product served by a hospital that also has a cottage cheese patty with brown gravy on their menu. Grandma couldn't understand why they weren't white like a scallop should be, and not grey, like a chicken nugget should be. Then we found out it wasn't either...
